Thom Joyce says:
“Like a sponge the Acoustic Vagabound soaks up and uses components from the various musical styles I appreciate and have studied, incorporating those into a unique approach, calling it a bluesy fearless foray into a funky free-styling of folk fusion. Playing in a variety of tunings, I explore the sonic realm of my experiences, enabling the listener to join me on my journey, exploring the inner realms of both my conscience and subconscious. I craft my songs from my encounters and escapades, using the people I love and those I meet as fodder for my inspiration. I hope to convey a bit of the joy that my journey through love and life has imparted. A little bit more than three chords and the truth … and yet the truth still rings out and shows herself!”
Jonathan Frith is a highly regarded Hudson Valley singer-songwriter. His music has been described as ‘acoustic soul’, with its distinctive fusion of rock and folk influences. His upbringing in both gritty Brooklyn and sensual Bermuda is reflected in his dreamy yet raw lyrics and melodies. Sister Blue, his fourth studio album, was released in 2022 on the Saltwater Music label. The vocals draw you into songs that are intimate and timeless, with echoes of Crosby, Stills & Nash, Neil Young, and Ray LaMontagne. In support of that record, Frith toured throughout Europe, opening for Heather Nova for over 40 performances in 12 countries. Back in Beacon, Frith performs solo in select venues, and is one of the lead singers in the band, DEADylan, gaining local renown for his interpretations of Dylan’s canon. For over five years, Frith regularly hosted a “Spotlight” series at Dogwood to promote and feature local songwriters. He currently presents the monthly “Frith and Friends” at Draught Industries in Beacon.
