For almost a decade, Bossa Blue has been creating mash-ups of contemporary and classic rock tunes from a jazz foundation that combines latin rhythms, rock and soulful blues to deliver music that is both unexpected yet perfectly familiar. Now, Bossa Blue delivers a set of James Taylor songs re-imagined and re-energized.
Band leader and award winning singer-songwriter Brad Cole notes, “The James Taylor Songbook is a treasure chest and I’d put his songwriting in the same class as Cole Porter and Johnny Mercer, not to mention the ‘A list’ of his contemporaries. We decided to perform the JT songbook because these songs are so rich in melody and structure. The fun and or challenge here is to update each composition and performance in a compelling way with this extraordinary group of musicians. Every tune has found its own unique blend of Bossa Nova, Samba, Jazz, Rock, Soul, and Blues, all rich with vocal interplay and intoxicating groove.
