The Flurries of Beacon, NY bring their energetic stage show back to their hometown stage of The Towne Crier. This rock ’n’ roll trio of Jerry Lee, their charismatic singer/guitarist/songwriter; Peter McCaw on bass; and Neil Green on drums blends touches of radio-ready modern rock, blue eyed soul and driving rockabilly roots rock to create their signature sound.
The Flurries have released two full length albums, “Colour Show,” and their most recent, “Tail of the Comet,” both releases containing 12 tracks written by Jerry Lee. A third album has been written with recordings to come.
For the past 40+ years, guitarist Dave ‘Doc’ French has been a fixture of the Big Apple blues scene playing what he calls “City Blues, New York Style”. Best known as leader of the long-running band French Cookin’, Doc has performed in such iconic Manhattan venues as The Bottom Line, The Lone Star Café, Dan Lynch Blues Bar, The Bitter End and 10-year residency at B.B. King’s/Lucille’s Grill in Times Square, as well as for their 2015 induction to The New York Blues Hall of Fame.
“All music other than classical is descended in some way, shape or form from the Blues,” French says. “For me, the Blues is an essential cultural footprint as well as a contemporary dialog. Now more than ever, the Blues is about storytelling. And stories that matter are meant to be shared.”
