“No woman can call herself free who does not control her own body” –Margaret Sanger
Since the US Supreme Court overturned Roe Vs Wade this past June, it has been left to an energized and informed citizenry to restore and protect a woman’s right to choose. Groups like The Center for Reproductive Rights, Planned Parenthood, NARAL, and the Brigid Alliance have all taken up the challenge, redoubling their efforts in defense of women’s reproductive rights. On the ground, in the courts, in state legislatures, and in the halls of Congress, these groups are fighting the fight.
CFRR, NARAL, the Brigid Alliance, and Planned Parenthood are all non-profit organizations. They survive largely on grants and private donations. This benefit is intended to raise awareness of their mission and raise money to help them continue their critical work.
These extraordinary artists are all donating their time and energy to help raise money to benefit these organizations:
-Cliff Eberhardt: www.cliffeberhardt.net A paragon of the modern folk world, a quintessential singer and songwriter, a genre-bending artist who has “complicated emotions and he articulates them with stunning clarity”. “His songs display the highest level of craftsmanship, his guitar playing is superb and his singing deeply emotional”-The Washington Times
-KJ Denhert:www.kjdenhert.com Brooklyn born, Bronx raised, an activist citizen of the world… “she’s a self-made woman who epitomizes staying power in a fickle industry, and she has created a unique aesthetic that’s broadly resonant”. She’s a “kinetic soul unbound by identity directives. With her acoustic guitar, she draws from a broad palette of urban musical heritage, and jazz and folk trad1itions”.
-Annalyse and Ryan: www.annalyseandryan.com Golden pipes and bluesy licks, Jersey shore and eastern Kentucky, brought together on the Great White Way….Annalyse & Ryan’s “strong harmonies melt together seamlessly, with an undeniable edge: a symbiotic clash reminiscent of their differing senses of place, yet their ironically parallel styles of seeing the world”.
-Deni Bonet: www.denibonet.com Massive credits from Mountain Stage to Cyndi Lauper, Deni has “Carnegie Hall virtuosity intertwined with a rock-club vibe and intimacy” “Attitude is a fine thing if there’s talent to accompany it and Deni Bonet has plenty of both. Pop just crackling with intelligence, sexual innuendo, attitude and oddity.”-Mountain Xpress, Asheville NC
-David Ray:www.reverbnation.com/davidray A Renaissance man, currently finishing up his new album at Buffalo Stack Studios in Beacon…a former New York City cab driver, bartender, bouncer, and actor, David Ray’s songs have been described as “cinematic.” They’ve been sung by artists as varied as Grammy-winner Shawn Colvin and Dove Award winner Kathy Troccoli, and recorded by producers from Arif Mardin to Rick Wake.
-Bruce T Carroll:www.brucetcarroll.com According to No Depression magazine, Bruce’s music is “devilishly brilliant” and “intensely beautiful”. Others have described him as “a singular talent that deserves admiration” (Midwest Record)…in addition to his three well-received albums and two singles, Bruce is most proud of producing 2020’s “Benefit For Fair Fight, Common Cause, and the Brennan Center” at the Towne Crier in Beacon, NY, and for his work on the ground in the Runoff Election in Georgia in 2020 that helped bring about a political seachange in the US Senate (which he hopes to replicate this November). Above all, Bruce believes that music and social conscience derive from the same wellspring of humanity, and his future work will reflect just that.
