DESCRIPTION:John Gorka is one of America’s preeminent singer-songwriters.
  Rolling Stone called him “…the leading singer/songwriter of the New F
 olk movement” that emerged in the early 1990s. Inspired early on by lege
 ndary folk troubadours like Stan Rogers\, Eric Andersen\, Tom Paxton and C
 laudia Schmidt\, John began performing his own songs\, and traveled to New
  York City\, where Jack Hardy’s legendary Fast Folk circle (a breeding g
 round for many a major singer-songwriter) became a powerful source of educ
 ation and encouragement.\n\nIn addition to his 11 critically acclaimed alb
 ums\, John released a collector’s edition box featuring a hi-definition 
 DVD and companion CD called “The Gypsy Life.” Windham Hill also releas
 ed a collection of John’s greatest hits from the label called “Pure Jo
 hn Gorka.” In 2010\, he also released an album with his friends and Red 
 House label-mates Lucy Kaplansky and Eliza Gilkyson under the name Red Hor
 se. Getting high praise from critics and fans alike\, it landed on the Bil
 lboard Folk Charts and was one of the most played albums on folk radio.\n\
