It is with deep sorrow that we received word of the passing of our long-time friend, singer-songwriter-musician Kate McGarrigle, who had been battling clear cell sarcoma for more than three years. Kate and her sister Anna were an integral part in establishing the character of the Towne Crier Cafe from its early days to participating in our 30th anniversary celebration concert. Over the years, Kate & Anna delighted us with their heavenly harmonies – at times also joined by Kate's children, Rufus & Martha Wainwright, and other family members.

Kate will be greatly missed by so many of us in the music community. Our heart-felt sympathy goes out to her family and others close to her.
