Description
For generations of folk music enthusiasts, the name of the McPeake Family of Belfast has stood for one of the most distinctive sounds in Irish music. Francis McPeake IV, the fourth generation of this world-famous musical dynasty, and one of the few authentic uilleann pipers in the world today, has put together a revived band, McPeake, which is unique in the world of music with its fusion of original Celtic compositions and contemporary rhythms and styles.
More about McPeake
Garrin Benfield's sound has been described as Freestyle Acoustic Rock ? a blend of moody, guitar driven rock, blues, and polyrhythmic groove all run through the filter of a very serious Singer/Songwriter. Garrin is first and foremost a guitar player, though. His talent shines through as a solo artist when he flat-picks his way through complicated and lightning-fast arrangements and also while he uses a Loop Station to create mesmerizing soundscapes upon which he lays blistering rock, blues and jazz licks, darkened by his extensive use of effect pedals. Improvisation is at the center of a Garrin Benfield concert experience. Garrin twists and turns the tunes each night in an ever-evolving attempt to keep searching for new musical challenges.
