Fri, 7/30, 8:30pm STEPHANE WREMBEL & The Django Experiment; guest Bob Mullins
One could call Stephane Wrembel a Gypsy...a world traveler, for the music he plays and his lifestyle are expressive of the Gypsy way of life. Born in Paris, and raised in Fontainbleu (home of the music of Django Reinhardt). Stephane first discovered Django's music and the Gypsies while in his teens and spent the next ten years of his life learning, playing and expanding this tradition. This intense work gave him his technique, but the time he spent playing around campfires and trailers gave him his soul. Wrembel graduated Summa Cum Laude from Berklee College Of Music with studies in contemporary jazz, Indian, African and Middle Eastern music, but highlights of his career include recording his third album with the legendary David Grisman; opening for, and sitting in with Rock & Roll Hall Of Famer Patti Smith; headlining at Lincoln Center; coaching Mariah Carey for her role as a singer/guitar player in Tenessee; and composing soundtrack music for Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

Sat, 7/31, 8:30pm LOS STRAITJACKETS guest host Unsteady Freddie
Los Straitjackets has been making its brand of raucous, instrumental rock since 1994, and have become known as one of the most dynamic and skillful instrumental bands on the planet. Their renowned live show is filled with mind-bending guitar theatrics and group choreography. ...and, don't forget the wrestling masks each band member wears onstage. Right before the band's first gig - back when they were still just The Straitjackets - Amis pulled out a bag of wrestling masks he'd bought in Mexico City. The Los Straitjackets were born. In the past few years, this gimmick has been brought full circle as the band's last two gigs in Mexico City have been in front of stadium-sized crowds. The band's music can be heard in on soundtracks for TV shows including Malcolm in the Middle, and at least 10 feature films including Meet the Parents, Harriet the Spy, Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room and Two Days in the Valley. They are also a favorite of NBC funny man Conan O'Brien.

Sun, 8/1, 7:30pm ADRENALINE HAYRIDE featuring Chris Leske, Arlin Greene, Dave Bevins and Ralph Lane
Individually, these veteran pickers have been winning honors (too numerous to mention here) since the early '70s. They have also toured with the likes of Bill Keith, Doc & Merle Watson, the Country Gentleman, Norman Blake and, of course, The McKrells -- playing alongside these other legends and/or opening for them on stages from country festivals to Carnegie Hall. Together, in this new progressive bluegrass band, they play fast and fun, but their compositions also express the entire range of human emotion.

Fri, 8/6, 8:30pm JIMMY LaFAVE; guest Kinney & Storms
This Austin-based Texas native is blessed with a distinctive, vibrant voice that is the perfect vehicle for his soul-baring ballads, burning anthems and driving, straight-ahead rock 'n' roll. Jimmy's self-penned material earned him the Songwriter of the Year award (along with 4 others) at the 1995 Kerrville Music Awards. When LaFave covers others' songs, such as those of Bob Dylan, they fit like his own broken-in boots, exhibiting his own character as much as that of their maker.

Sat, 8/7, 8:30pm KEVIN KANE Band ~ CD Release Party - free CD w/ticket purchase!
Recently dubbed Westchester's best songwriter/original band following the positive critical reception of their new CD Saturday Night Coffee, and riding a growing wave of enthusiasm for the new single and video Get America Working, the Kevin Kane Band looks poised to start flying way above the radar. Critics are particularly complimentary of the band's full range of song styles -- catchy riff rock, lyrical melody lines, new country and blues, up tempo pop and a three part harmony folk -- feel reminiscent of the original Newport Folk festival. That one band is so comfortable across such a wide and diverse musical spectrum makes them even more appealing live.

They're about all the things I've done, from sailing on tall ships to being a cowboy in Colorado, to playing for Kings, Queens, Princes and Princesses in Europe and the Hells Angels." Sat, 8/14, 8:30pm CHIP TAYLOR Trio, featuring John Platania; guest Bill Bachmann
To call Chip Taylor's life an incredible story is almost an understatement. As a songwriter, Taylor has hit the charts in five decades now. He wrote Wild Thing, one of the primary songs of the rock'n'roll canon since it was a #1 hit for The Troggs in 1966. His song Angel of the Morning has been a hit for Merilee Rush, Juice Newton and most recently Shaggy, whose chart-topping version earned Taylor the status of having the longest span of #1 hits in music history. As No Depression magazine noted, "Maybe somebody else has had cuts by Jimi Hendrix, Frank Sinatra and Willie Nelson, but it's got to be a pretty elite club." Taylor has also been a spectacularly successful professional gambler, as well as a recording artist and producer of such acts as the young James Taylor (no relation) and pop superstar Neil Diamond. He was an integral part of the bustling New York pop songwriting scene in its 1960s Brill Building heyday, one of the pioneers of the progressive country style that was the grandfather of today's alternative country movement, and is today a respected elder statesman of the singer-songwriter scene.

Fri, 8/20, 8:30pm PATTI ROTHBERG; also MONTGOMERY DELANEY
The buzz about Patti Rothberg says it all: "One stop from stardom...a mix of urban folk and full-tilt rock." - USA Today; "Shrewdly mixing folk, ballads and power rock, Rothberg distinguishes herself from the screamers by showing her spunk ...without the punk." -People Magazine; "The most inspired debut in recent memory." -Billboard; "Rothberg avoids strident alternative pop for a thick, sensuous rock brew that adds ingredients from psychedelia, folk, power pop and even glam. Sat, 8/21, 8:30pm RHETT MILLER; guest The Trapps
For almost ten years now, Rhett Miller has balanced a solo career with a band career, as both the leader of the rock band Old 97s and as an acclaimed singer-songwriter in his own right. Last year, the Old 97s released their seventh album, Blame It On Gravity. Now, just a year later, Miller returns with his fourth solo record, the self-titled Rhett Miller. Like every record that Miller is involved in, it's tuneful, memorable and smart. Unlike the other records, though, this one cuts deep - sometimes to the bone. As the title suggests, this album represents Miller's most personal statement in a career that has spanned more than a decade.

Fri, 8/27, 8:30pm CHRIS BARRON (of the Spin Doctors) and The Time Bandits
Chris Barron is many things to many people: the voice of the Spin Doctors, the face of the jamband scene, an MTV superstar, an East Village troubadour, the author of some of the 1990s' most enduring radio hits, a father and a teacher. But, these days, the Spin Doctors singer is most at home when he's simply playing rock and roll. The Spin Doctors' multi-platinum debut, Pocket Full of Kryptonite, became a grassroots success story, spawning ubiquitous hits like Little Miss Can't Be Wrong, Jimmy Olsen's Blues and the chart-topping Two Princes. The group was nominated for a Grammy, scored the cover of Rolling Stone and shared the stage with luminaries like the Rolling Stones. Then, at the height of his career, Barron was diagnosed with an acute form of vocal cord paralysis. Thanks to years of hard work and some good luck, Barron's voice eventually recovered, and he slowly returned to New York's vibrant club circuit. Almost twenty years after he formed the Spin Doctors just a few blocks north, Barron found himself with another tried-and-true rock band: The Time Bandits. Yet Barron hasn't forgotten about his best-known hits. "I love those songs, and we continue to play them," he assures fans.
