Sloan
Wainwright comes from a long line of amazingly gifted singer/songwriters.
Her family tree (brother Loudon, nephew Rufus, niece Martha)
reads like a who's who of contemporary popular music. Sloan's
incredible gift is not only her unique songwriting ability but
her smoky,deep voiced rendition of songs. In July 2006, Sloan
released her sixth independent CD, Life Grows Back ( Derby Disc
Music ). Defying standard categorization, Life Grows Back sees
Sloan demonstrate her easy command of a variety of American musical
styles: pop, folk, jazz and blues. The end result is a soulful
hybrid unique to Sloan. Produced with longtime musical partner
and guitarist Stephen Murphy and mixed by renowned music producer,
Stewart Lerman (Dar Williams, Jules Shear ) Guest musicians include
nephew Rufus Wainwright, who joins Sloan in a duet on the title
track " Tired Of Wasting Time " and David Mansfield
( Fiddle ) on " Wild in this World ". Sloan is an independent
artist making grown-up girl music in the truest sense - a rare,
one of a kind voice that speaks deeply to our humanity and leaves
us forever changed. Sloan has been our special secret here at
The Towne Crier Cafe for many years. But now the secret is out.
