RED ROOSTER, BANJO JACK and ANDY LAIRD

Although RED ROOSTER's roots remain firmly planted in Americana and Alt-Country, the band has created a highly original and urban-infused sound that has landed them a gig at the 2008 Newport Folk Festival. Red Rooster shows vary from just its founders -- Jay Erickson (guitar and vocals) and Nat Zilkha (lead guitar) with a couple of acoustic guitars -- to an urban country orchestra complete with electric guitars, drums, horns, fiddle, and mandolin.
"The fact that Red Rooster has managed to capture the dichotomy of modern American roots is nothing short of astounding."-Americana UK
"New York's Red Rooster updates the somewhat tired alt-country genre."-Nashville Scene
"...a journey through the heart of Americana and roots music." -The Houston Chronicle
"The group shines." -Time Out NY
More about Red Rooster

There's no shortage of rock bands carving out a niche with unconventional lineups these days, but by substituting banjo for the guitar and pushing the limits of the instrument's versatility, BANJO JACK seamlessly bridges the expanse between traditional and modern. With a completely unique ensemble that adds pedal steel, bass and drums, they have emerged as an unlikely player in the NYC roots revival scene.
"Banjo Jack has found a unique and excellent sound with great vocals and good tight song writing." -Eli Smith, Down Home Radio
More about Banjo Jack

Starting out as a singer, ANDY LAIRD decided to branch out from the lucrative a cappella market (!) by adding guitar & piano to his skills. Since then he has been blending emotional intensity with a pop sensibility to create a unique form of soulful, alternative rock. His songs have been featured on MTV and radio stations across the country, including NYC's WFUV, and has been Featured Artist of the Week on WERS in Boston.
"An atmospheric sound that is both structured and breezy, without ever losing the personal nature of the songs." -Nick Stefanovich, WERS, Boston
