KINNEY & STORMS
Although RED ROOSTER's roots remain firmly planted in Americana and Alt-Country, the band has created a highly original and urban-infused sound that has landed them a gig at the 2008 Newport Folk Festival. Red Rooster shows vary from just its founders -- Jay Erickson (guitar and vocals) and Nat Zilkha (lead guitar) with a couple of acoustic guitars -- to an urban country orchestra complete with electric guitars, drums, horns, fiddle, and mandolin.
Red Rooster is celebrating the release of their new CD, "Walk."
"The fact that Red Rooster has managed to capture the dichotomy of modern American roots is nothing short of astounding."-Americana UK
"New York's Red Rooster updates the somewhat tired alt-country genre."-Nashville Scene
"...a journey through the heart of Americana and roots music." -The Houston Chronicle
"The group shines." -Time Out NY
More about Red Rooster
Kevin KINNEY, a relatively new singer-songwriter with coffeehouse roots, has joined Jeffrey STORMS, a self-taught guitarist with years of experience and spanning several different genres of music. With diverse backgrounds and a shared passion, their style incorporates an addictive fusion of folk, pop and rock. Rachel Beard, a classically trained cellist, adds a round, compelling dynamic to the group. This unique combination ~ their heartfelt poetry & soulfully expressed songs, warm harmonies, strong rhythm guitar with progressive leads, blended with Rachel's haunting cello ~ creates a large, powerful sound that is becoming highly recognized in the Hudson Valley.
