| FRI. 12/4 TOM PACHECO with JIM WEIDER
Tom Pacheco is a passionate and imaginative songwriter – cast in the classic troubadour tradition that stretches back through centuries of song – launching poetic comment upon the tides of the time, flavors of life, and the wonder of it's circumstance. He is truly one of America's great songwriting treasures. At age 10, Tom was tutored by his father, jazz musician Tony Pacheco, on classical and jazz guitar. But, it wasn't long before Tom fell under the spell of Woody Guthrie, Phil Ochs and Bob Dylan. Since then, Pacheco's songs have been covered by Jefferson Starship, the Band, Rick Danko, Richie Havens, and dozens of European artists. A native of Woodstock, New York, Jim Weider began playing guitar at age 11 – influenced by early electric guitar masters such as Chuck Berry, James Burton and Scotty Moore. While still a teenager in Woodstock, he became acquainted with Levon Helm and was exposed to The Band's music. In the following years, Jim became a widely respected master of classic telecaster and traditional blues slide guitar techniques himself, becoming an accomplished studio session player in cities such as Atlanta and Nashville. He eventually returned to Woodstock and was invited to become The Band's sole guitarist in 1985. He is also one of a "select" group of musicians to have an endorsement from Fender, and has built an international reputation among fellow musicians worldwide. Tom Pacheco and Jim Weider have collaborated numerous times, both on stage and in the studio. Jim produced and performed musical tracks on Tom's recording "Year Of The Big Wind" in 2004 and "The Lost American Songwriter" in 1999. He also produced "Woodstock Winter" which Tom recorded in Levon Helm's studio featuring members of the band, including Levon Helm and Rick Danko. Tom and Jim both currently reside in Woodstock, NY, and look forward to the opportunity to collaborate once again!
