CHRISTINE LAVIN
and
BUSKIN & BATTEAU
This was such a great show last fall, we wanted to give you another opportuntity to see this great combination!
CHRISTINE LAVIN’s smart and funny take on contemporary life and foible make for a one-of-a-kind concert. As a songwriter, she brings the shrewd insight & wit of a humor columnist together with a novelist's eye for evocative details. While the title of her 19th solo album may sound like a disclaimer ~ I Don’t Make This Stuff Up... I Just Make It Rhyme ~ it is clear she’s an expert on our days and our ways.
Abundantly clever and unabashedly fond of a good laugh, she is fearless; opening her show to the audience in a way that ensures every concert is a one-off. Her music and her spontaneity are unequivocal departures from today’s overly choreographed numbers and amped-up lyrics ...passing out recipes or goodie bags for people whose birthday falls during the holidays, drafting audience members onstage to join her for certain numbers and then improvising brilliant song ripostes as follow up. Her stage persona is almost that of an Aunty Mame, the bane of the family who may lower their eyes at her antics ...except everyone else can’t get enough of her truth & panache!
More about Christine Lavin
After a thirteen-year hiatus to 1) be dads, and 2) take a nap, BUSKIN & BATTEAU have just put the finishing touches on their long-anticipated new CD and are back on the road again! In their new album and in their performances, they continue to offer their audiences "an irresistible amalgam of melodic, sensual pop, folkie grit and killer wit." -Washington Post
David Buskin and Robin Batteau evoke a wide range of emotions in their audiences, from light-hearted amusement to the gentle sense of loss expressed in their beautiful ballad for the late Kate Wolf, "Never Cry Wolf."
As professional jingle writers, Buskin & Batteau's voices and tunes have been heard in almost every American household. They've had us listening "to the heartbeat of America," living "in a Burger King Town" and climbing "all aboard Amtrak."
Buskin & Batteau combine talent, humor and showmanship with the element of surprise to produce a crowd-pleasing performance.
"...Versatile, sophisticated...by turns acerbic, funny and plaintive. Buskin and Batteau are breathing new life into the genre of the folk-pop singer/songwriter." - The New York Times
