COMMANDER CODY & HIS LOST PLANET AIRMEN
also
PROFESSOR LOUIE & THE CROWMATIX
One of the country's
best boogie-woogie bar bands in their heyday in the early to
mid '70s, Commander Cody specializes in a revved-up, full tilt
assortment of Western swing, country and rockabilly music. The
Commander (a.k.a. George Frayne) formed the first incarnation
in the Midwest (while teaching art at Wisconsin's State University).
Late '60s success in the San Francisco Bay area saw the band
recording, touring and producing hits like "Hot Rod Lincoln,"
"Smoke, Smoke Smoke," and "Beat Me Daddy Eight
to The Bar," through "Don't Let Go" in 1975. After
a 1976 European tour, the band split up, though the Commander
re-formed several other line-ups through the early '80s. The
Commander today continues to balance his arts among painting,
music and mastery of the good-time, get-down-and-boogy school
of live performance. Come on in and watch our roof get raised,
as Commander Cody lands here once again!
