RORY BLOCK
Her music represents
"some of the most singular and affecting country blues anyone
-man or woman, black or white, old or young-has cut in years."
As Rolling Stone critic Dave Marsh described it. Bonnie
Raitt calls her "an inspiration to me since we started out."
She's been writing and playing music most of her life, from Delta-style
blues, to ragtime guitar to rock, R&B and gospel, with singing
that combines purity, grit and heart. She likes to tap the more
obscure pockets of the blues repertoire and has the gift, through
her incredible energy, to make the songs seem as if they were
her own. She also preserves the traditional blues themes in her
own compositions. She's recorded 17 solo albums (earning 4 W.C.
Handy Awards and a gold record in Europe)
