THE "THE BAND" BAND
Tribute to The Band
TThe
mission of The THE BAND Band is to present the music of The Band
in a manner true to its original style and form, evoking the
sound and the spirit of their live performances; to perform their
songs for longtime fans as well as a new generation of listeners;
and to have fun doing it. The five members of The THE BAND Band
are seasoned veteran musicians who have played both locally and
nationwide for over 30 years. All are multi-instrumentalists,
and all sing. They share a love for the music of The Band, and
formed this tribute band for the sheer enjoyment of playing their
songs. By covering all the well-loved favorites, as well as
a broad selection of lesser -knowns, they showcase the astounding
breadth and depth of The Band's music. Says bassist Gary Solomon,
"We're somewhat unique, as tribute bands go, mainly because
nobody else is covering The Band. And because of that, our shows
have been very well attended, and very well received." It's
been 32 years since The Band performed live with their original
lineup. With the passing of Richard Manuel in 1986 and Rick
Danko in 1999, and Levon Helm's recent bout with throat cancer
that silenced his voice for several years, fans of The Band have
been waiting a long time to hear their music as it was originally
presented. The waiting is over.
