AZTEC TWO-STEP

Aztec Two-Step burst upon the scene in 1972, with their triumphant debut album which eloquently spoke of human experience at a time when many Americans were awakening to new ideas and perceptions of life, both internal and external. That first album, along with subsequent albums, were staples of progressive FM and college radio, and helped to bring the music of the 1960s into the '70s. In 2007, their debut was named one of the top five classic folk albums by Real Simple magazine, joining work by Bob Dylan, Judy Collins, Tom Rush and Phil Ochs. The article cites the duo as "surpass[ing] Simon and Garfunkel for exquisite harmonies, musicianship and emotion." They have also been praised in countless other major US newspapers and magazines, including Rolling Stone, and have appeared on numerous TV and radio shows, such as the David Letterman Show, the King Biscuit Flour Hour and World Café Live. In 1999 they were the subjects of the documentary, No Hit Wonder, which was aired on PBS.
Highly acclaimed by both the critical world and the listening public, they have continued a successful songwriting, recording and performing career. Their songs ~ old and new ~ remain vital and timeless years later. Aztec Two-Step continues to impress audiences with their shimmering, intricately textured twin guitar sound, as well as their intelligent songwriting and inspiring harmonies.
