ERIC ANDERSEN
also
CLIFF EBERHARDT
It's
always a privilege to present Eric Andersen. One of the most
inspired singer-songwriters to emerge during the mid-1960s, he
was born in Pittsburgh and began playing guitar at eight. Songwriter
Tom Paxton heard Andersen in San Francisco and encouraged him
to move to New York where he began writing and recording classic
songs like "Thirsty Boots," "Violets of Dawn,"
and "Close the Door Lightly." In New York City clubs
he learned first-hand, how a master musician, with one voice
or one instrument, can captivate an audience. He appeared for
the first time at the Newport Folk Festival in 1966, crystallizing
his recognition in the folk world, and since then has performed
worldwide. Andersen's songs have been recorded by artists all
over the world including Judy Collins, Fairport Convention, Peter
Paul and Mary, Rick Nelson, Linda Ronstadt and The Grateful Dead.
He's shared the stage with many greats like Janis Joblin, Buddy
Guy, The Grateful Dead, The Band and Lou Reed. Accomplished musicians
appearing on his records include the late Rick Danko, Garth Hudson,
Joni Mitchell, Shawn Colvin and Richard Thompson.
His desire to keep "fresh
and new" the songs of his early Sixties Greenwich Village
compatriots Bob Dylan, Tom Paxton, Phil Ochs, Fred Neil and others
in the movement from traditional folk music to a more poetic
and personal style of songwriting led Eric to record The Street
Was Always There and now Waves, the second volume
in his "Great American Song Series."
More about Eric Andersen
We're
happy to welcome back Cliff Eberhardt, long acknowledged in songwriting
circles as a master of the form. His music is heartfelt, droll,
edgy, compassionate and celebratory; it makes the listener think,
and feel better too. It captures the listener's attention, and
retains its power whether backed by a full band "The Long
Road" or just a guitar. Cliff, latest CD is entitled The
High Above and the Down Below, on Red House Records. A book
of his songs has been released by Cerry Lane Publishing.
